We have had a real enjoyable couple of days here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The drive from Wisconsin and across the Upper Peninsula was a delightful drive along the coast with many views of the lake. The weather has been on and off, and it sounds as if it will continue with the rain-sun mixture throughout the weekend while we are in Traverse City, MI.
We have had ample time to see most all of the sights here in Mackinaw City and surrounding area. We spent last evening taking night shots of the Mackinaw Bridge. We have seen many different looks to the area as cloud banks swept through to clear and beautiful skies.
We spent the day today on Mackinaw Island with all that it had to offer. Fort Mackinaw was interesting after a rather steep climb up its overlook of the town below. The Mackinaw Island Harbor was bustling with activity, but it was very evident that tourism is way off. We noticed that every hotel and motel with vacancy signs.
